The RIBA exists to advance architecture and promote excellence in the profession. The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) is an internationally recognised organisation dedicated solely to the concerns of independent, professional lighting designers. The IALD strives to set the global standard for lighting design excellence by promoting the advancement and recognition of professional lighting designers.
The Institution of Lighting Engineers (ILE) is the UK and Ireland's largest and most influential professional lighting association, dedicated solely to excellence in lighting. Founded in 1924 as the Association of Public Lighting Engineers, the ILE has evolved to include lighting designers, architects, consultants and engineers amongst its 2,200 strong membership.
With a membership of 17,000, one fifth of which is overseas, CIBSE (The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) is an international body which represents and provides services to the building services profession.
The LIF's primary objective is to ensure that clients receive the quality of product and scheme design to which they are entitled and to safeguard the interests of the end user.
The European Lighting Designers' Association is a voluntary federation of lighting designers and lighting consultants who are active on an international scale, their purpose being to increase the reputation of the profession and to establish the profession as such in its own right. ELDA+ membership is centred around the professional architectural lighting designer
The Bartlett School comprises five schools that are UCL's Faculty of the Built Environment. These include The Bartlett School of Architecture, The Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management, The Bartlett School of Planning, The Development Planning Unit at the Bartlett and The Bartlett School of Graduate Studies .
The Society of Light and Lighting acts as the professional body for lighting in the UK. With 2000 members it is the senior and largest professional body in the UK representing the interests of those involved in the art, science and engineering of light and lighting in their widest definition.
