Product Design Engineer
Light Projects is looking to appoint a Product Design Engineer to join our innovative and proactive Research and Development team.
We design and manufacture a stylish collection of architectural lighting fittings for an extensive variety of interior and exterior lighting schemes.
Working as a key member of the R&D team, the successful candidate will be working to create lighting fittings from conception through to design, product engineering, manufacture and testing. The candidate will also work with the sales team and lighting specifiers to developing project specific products and bespoke solutions for specific schemes.
The successful candidate needs to show initiative and the ability to translate designs into workable manufacturing solutions as well as the ability and foresight to carry out custom modifications to existing products for project schemes.
Finally, the R&D team provide technical support to Sales team on the wide product range we sell – be it from our own design or from our manufacturing partners.
Key Tasks
Product research & design
Preparation of Design, Sales support & Manufacturing documentation
Product testing – both in own workshop and third party laboratories
Skills
Methodical and practical approach to problem solving - both in design and manufacture.
Self-motivated team player with the ability to communicate effectively with lighting specifiers, suppliers and the shopfloor.
Applicant should have good CAD and IT skills with proven experience in lighting product design and manufacture.
3D CAD design skills - preferably with Solidworks.
General office computer systems – Office, Notes & possibly some desktop publishing.
Experience in lighting control / DMX would be an advantage.
Ability to work to deadlines
Renumeration
Competitive Salary dependant on experience.
Sales Personnel
We are seeking motivated sales people looking to establish a long-term career within our thriving and exciting company. We supply our own and other manufacturers' architectural lighting fittings. Our core customers are lighting designers, architects, other professional lighting specifiers and end users. We work on a diverse range of projects - from lighting individual works of art, to retail, commercial, public sector and even Cathedrals.

Age is not an issue but you should have had some success in your schooling, education and/or further education. You should have, or would want to develop, an interest in all things to do with the application of light, its technology, usage and design potential. You should also be interested and enthused by buildings, their architecture and application.
