| A 45 tonne Grade 2 listed fountain has recently been refurbished and fitted with special effect lighting
from Lightscape Projects Ltd as specified by The Morton Partnership Architects.
The Hubert fountain, donated to Ashford Borough Council a few years ago, has been totally refurbished
with money from the Heritage fund and fitted with 34 of Lightscape’s LS275a Star Underwater Units.
It has now been relocated in Ashford’s Victoria Park.
Star Underwater fittings are sp ecially designed for this type of application. Working on 12v 75W
MR16 lamps, the fittings are manufactured in bronze and have an IP68 rating. The transformer used
was Lightscape Projects VoltManager.
The VoltManager transformer stabilises the voltage at the lamps irrespective of fluctuations in the
mains supply and the number of lamps in the circuit. This means that the common problems associated
with traditional transformers, such as short lamp life caused by over-volting or thermal shock from surge
currents, are eliminated. Another advantage of this ‘intelligent transformer’ is the system’s ability to
guarantee the integrity of any low voltage lighting system by giving stabilised optimum voltage at the
lamps hence preventing premature lamp failure.
Lightscape Projects, part of the Light Projects group of companies, is dedicated to the supply of lighting
equipment for exterior architectural, landscape and underwater projects. |
