| The latest generation of KIM Lighting vandal-resistant bollards are now available in the
UK from the Light Projects Group.
These innovative heavy duty illuminating bollards are available in round (VRB) or square
(VSB) versions, with shafts manufactured from aluminium. The range is available in
standard Super TGIC powder coated finishes including black, dark bronze, light grey,
platinum silver and white; other custom colours are available to order. In addition, the
units can be supplied with coloured concrete shafts to special order.
The range also has the unique feature of providing the choice of two light distribution
patterns - single function or dual function. The Single function provides 360° of down-
lighting with total lamp cut-off above the 90° horizontal. This is designed for lighting
walkways, entrances, courtyards and landscaped areas where fixtures are viewable from
all directions.
The dual function louvres provide 210° of cut-off down-lighting and vertical louvres
provide 150° of non-cut-off accent lighting. This is designed for areas where walkways
run alongside building facades, signage or trees/planting. These vertical surfaces may be
illuminated using the dual function option and thereby avoiding the necessity for two form
of lighting product.
All versions feature shadowless lighting. By using internal flutes in the glass lamp enclosure,
shadows are eliminated by refracting light around the structural supports and vertical louvers.
This impressive feature of the bollard means that no light is sacrificed to compromise for
strength. Also, combined with the inherent strength of the aluminium top cap which is
secured by concealed crews, means the unit is both strong yet attractive.
The bollards are suitable for use with high pressure sodium, metal halide and compact
fluorescent lamps between 70 and100 watts, as well as a 32 watt compact fluorescent
source. |
 | Kim Lighting also offers the GEM High Performance Bollard. Different to the other ranges, this features a conical prismatic lens which provides a unique presence and superior performance which controls unwanted direct glare by placing the lamp’s arc tube high in the optical system. A hydro-formed reflector is used to direct light down onto pathways and to shield from eyes. With increased luminescence and split beam optics, the light is spread evenly downward at 60° from vertical and eliminates shadows caused by the luminaire’s support structure. This results in levels of a minimum 5.0lux at 10.m spacings using the 70w metal halide lamp. Therefore, a dramatic reduction in overall product quantities can be achieved across the site.
